Some gurus will tell you Facebook is enough to grow your online presence. I’ve been in the online space long enough to know this advice can be misleading. Yes, it’s true that building on multiple platforms can feel overwhelming. But is relying only on Facebook a safe long-term strategy?
I agree with the statement only in one small aspect: it’s easier to focus on one platform than to juggle too many. However, putting all your energy into one place, especially Facebook (which remains the largest social media platform and therefore attracts the people with bad intentions), can backfire badly. If you read my last blog post, you already know what happened to me.
My account was cloned—and then suspended. I’m still waiting for Meta’s review. This wasn’t the first time someone tried to impersonate me, but what happened next was terrifying. I had worked hard to rebuild my Facebook from scratch, and suddenly, it was all gone.
Now imagine this happens to you. Where are your contacts? Where is your community? If your whole online presence lives only on Facebook, one unexpected suspension can wipe out years of work overnight.

That’s why I strongly recommend creating your own digital foundation. Start with a website, build a newsletter, and diversify across other social media platforms. This way, you’re not putting all your eggs in one basket.
The truth is, Facebook is enough only if you want to risk losing everything. But if you want a strong, lasting online presence, you need to build beyond Facebook.
